Polycarbonate door canopies

Polycarbonate door canopies give you a durable, lightweight cover over a doorway without the weight or cost of glass. The sheet is shatter-resistant, quick to fit, and — because it flexes — it can be formed into curved profiles that a rigid glass panel can't achieve. Every canopy is designed and manufactured in the UK, and we use only UV-stable polycarbonate that stays clear rather than yellowing over time. If you'd prefer the premium look of glass, take a look at our glass door canopies as well.

Why choose polycarbonate?
Polycarbonate is one of the toughest glazing materials available for its weight. It resists impact far better than glass and, subject to sheet thickness, is effectively shatter-resistant — a practical choice over busy entrances, side doors and back doors. Being light, it puts less load on wall fixings and is straightforward to handle and install.

UV-stable and long lasting
Not all polycarbonate is equal. Cheaper sheet can discolour and go cloudy within a few years of sun exposure. We specify only UV-stable polycarbonate, which is treated to resist yellowing so the canopy keeps its clarity and appearance for the long term.

Flexible design options
Because the sheet can be curved, polycarbonate opens up canopy shapes and profiles that aren't possible in glass. We offer a range of designs — the exact size, bracket style and profile vary by model, so check the individual product details for each canopy's specification.

Made in the UK
Every House of Canopies canopy is designed and made in the UK, using quality materials throughout. Wind and snow loadings are covered by the certification supplied with each canopy — always confirm the figures against the requirements for your building and location.

Frequently asked questions

Will a polycarbonate canopy go yellow over time?
Not if it's UV-stable sheet. Ours is treated to resist yellowing and clouding from sun exposure, so it keeps its clarity far longer than untreated polycarbonate.
Is polycarbonate as strong as glass?
Polycarbonate has much higher impact resistance than glass for its weight and, subject to thickness, is effectively shatter-resistant. Glass gives a more premium appearance, so the right choice depends on the look and the setting.
Can polycarbonate canopies be curved?
Yes. The sheet flexes, so it can be formed into curved profiles that rigid glass can't achieve. Available shapes vary by model, so check the individual product details.
Are the canopies suitable for wind and snow loads?
Each canopy is supplied with load certification. As with any canopy, confirm the certified wind and snow figures against your building's location and exposure before installing.
Are they made in the UK?
Yes — every canopy is designed and manufactured in the UK.
